Utah Tour de Donut

The boys rode in their first bike race today and I can't think of a sweeter way to start off than the Utah Tour de Donut.

Joel more than ready to go on my super cute pink bike

I love this picture of Joel and Ridge being lapped by the serious donut racers

donuts here we come

For every donut you eat 3 minutes are shaved off your race time... one guy at 32! My boys ate 5 total between the three of them.

Who wears short shorts? They do and I loved it.

Fireworks

We weren't going to do fireworks this year because of the risk of lighting a fire in our very dry area, but when our kids noticed the neighborhood was in full fireworks mode and we were not... Joel and I had to rethink our plan and check to see if in fact we really were banned. Turns out we could in fact set the night alight and our kids let us know that if we didn't the already expensive therapy bills of their future were going to increase tremendously so we gave in to kid pressure (more intense than peer pressure) and enjoyed our nation's birthday with some sparklers.

Ridge took several of these pictures and he was very pleased with himself as is evident in this self portrait.

Home again

View free of flames
We are back home thankfully. The fire is not out yet but our neighborhood isn't in the hot seat anymore. We are so grateful for the firefighters and emergency workers that put themselves in danger to keep others safe. It was a stressful day but great for giving us perspective on what is truly important and of value.
